Continuing Lambda's Legacy

MORE GOOD NEWS: Lambda's renovation plans are expanding!

Brothers, thanks to some recent sizeable donations and a new approach to financing, the Lambda Chapter renovation will also include an expansion.

By now you should have received the Tiger FIJI, which announced our plans to renovate the main floor foyer and second and third floors—replacing the walls, floors, and ceilings, plus new electrical wiring and a new forced-air heating and air conditioning system. This will begin Monday, May 22, immediately following graduation; and is planned to be complete by August 17 when students return for the fall semester.

Our plans now include construction of (1) a new west wing, which will move the kitchen westward, and (2) an informal study area—with a gas fireplace—to the south of the dining room. This will accommodate group study in an informal environment, with convenient access to coffee and snacks in the kitchen. It will also permit expanded use of the dining area. At maximum capacity of 100-plus, it will be able to host Pig Dinner. No more need to carry the pig down stairs!

The best news of all is that we will be breaking ground on April 8 during Pig Dinner Weekend, right after lunch!

Please take a good look below at all the events planned for that weekend, and come to Greencastle if you can. And bring your golf clubs! The undergrads have set up a golf outing for us starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Here's an internet link that contains contact information for the hotels and motels in the Greencastle area that weekend: It helps to identify all the close-by places to stay.

The Campaign for Phi Gamma Delta

"Now's the time, right now!," said Doug Mitchell, campaign chair, as the Continuing Lambda's Legacy campaign pledges have now passed $900,000 on their way toward a $2.5 million goal.

Tiger FIJI reported a $725,000 pledge total in July, and all 900-plus Lambda's members received a brochure by mail describing the aspects of the campaign. Class agents have been calling their fellow Graduate Brothers to follow up for additional pledges.

Our interim goal is to have $1.5 million in pledges by the end of March, which is quite achievable based on 120 new pledges of $5,000 or more, payable over five years. Now is the time that Graduate Brothers need to come forward, in order to ensure that after a 10-year-long resurgence in the chapter's progress, it will be sustained.

This restoration/renewal is planned to fulfill Lambda's housing requirements for another 30 to 40 years, so foremost for all of us, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to help preserve Lambda's house. Truly, after this campaign, all of us will want to feel the pride of knowing that we were part of preserving the house and Lambda's role in the lives of its undergraduates for years to come. Let none of us experience "regret for a lost opportunity."

All contributors' names will be recorded on a brick wall in the new foyer. Please add your name to the wall so that you and other generations will know you cared about your Lambda FIJI experience! The more brothers, the better!

Pledges may be made over five years, making it easier to make a very meaningful contribution. Click here to download our pledge form.

Talk with your class agent or Era Captain, listed in the brochure. Please be a part of this significant, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
